Traction in racially or ethnically diversifying boards is slowly progressing in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors (~84 percent white in corporations and ~84 percent white in nonprofits) while the United States population is ~40 percent nonwhite—and this number continues to grow annually (Alliance for Board Diversity, BoardSource, US Census Bureau). Many boards have started efforts to diversify, yet many of these attempts have failed or been poorly executed. To onboard one racially or ethnically diverse person, regardless of his or her skill and experience, and think “the job” is done is to miss the point entirely.
Our service includes a comprehensive consultation to help boards with their diversification goals. We take a holistic approach to assist boards in designing their future composition based on gaps, expected needs, customer/community profile, and strategic goals. If board diversity is rolled out properly and your board members are enthusiastic, you will have increased productivity and creativity from varied perspectives and your reputation will be boosted. Board Boost Consulting is the partner to help get you there quickly and smoothly with our step-by-step plan and our training resources.
